Preamble
At the end of term 4, some schools would be running a Headstart Program (Step-Up, Flying Start, Transition, etc.). This document will outline the steps needed to sync your Headstart to Compass from E10 and Timetable Daily. Schools will first need their next year's file, e.g. 2026, already prepared for this.

Step 1: Syncing your current Timetable "etz" file "2025" to both Tes Daily and Compass as normal
- Go to 'File > Synchronise > Sync now', then sync to both Compass and the Edval Web Server

Step 2: Create Meadowbanks events in Tes Daily when classes cease for Yr 12 and Yr 11
Go into Daily's 'Event' tab and click on 'Create Event' on the right side
- Enter the Event name, select 'MEADOWBANKS' from the drop-down for the 'Event type' and set the date range for the duration of the Headstart Program.
The Publish date should be set to today or earlier, as this allows for the cancelled classes to be visible for staff
- Expand the 'Students' tab, then the '11', tick only the '11 (whole year group)' option.
- Do the same for 12, ticking only the '12 (whole year group)' option.
- Click Save.
Step 3: Create your next year's "2026" yr12 classes as events in your current Timetable Daily "2025"

- Go into Daily's 'Event' tab in your current year's Daily "2025" dataset and click on 'Create Event' on the right side
- Enter the class for the Event name, select 'Event' from the drop-down for the 'Event type' and set the date range for a 'Partial day' to when that class occurs.
- Select the teacher and room for the class.

Step 4: Follow the same setup for next year's "2026" Yr 11 classes
Step 5: Sync the next year "2026" Yr 11 and Yr 12 classes ONLY to Compass Headstart layer
- Go into next year's "2026"/Headstart file - 'File > Synchronise > Configure'.
- Click on the configure button for Compass.
- Check that the URL for the Compass Headstart layer is entered correctly, and enter Username + API Key. (Contact Compass Support for URL if not known).
- Select the 'Other' tab for the Compass sync configuration.
- Click on the 'Which years?' button and select only 'Yr12' and 'Yr11'.
- Set the Rotation start dates to match what is in Compass's Headstart layer.
- Go to the 'Sync now' tab at the top.
- Perform an 'Advanced Sync' to Compass with 'Timetable --> Compass server' options ticked.
