Essentially this is swapping with lessons on another period or moving a class, block or whole column into a free period. There are two methods for moving or swapping classes, blocks or whole columns on the Master grid: using the space bar and using drag and drop.
Using the Space bar
- Select the lesson to be moved, press the space bar.
- Select the lesson or period to move to and press the space bar again.

1. The grey highlighted lessons are the ones that will be swapped.
2. If the selected lesson is part of a block (linked) or line, all lessons in the block or line will be highlighted grey and swapped.
3. When the space bar is pressed repetitively it picks up more lessons on the same period.
4. Ultimately the whole column can be swapped, if required.
5. If a period restriction has been placed on a class in Class Data (using the Periods column), or if a file is multi-grid and a period is not part of the grid of the selected class, that class will not be permitted to move into any of the restricted period slots. A black clash dot will denote restricted periods when a class, block or column is selected to move.
Drag and Drop
- Select the class or block using a left mouse click and drag it to the required period.
- Drop the class or block into an occupied period to create a swap.
- Dropping a class or block into a free period will move that class or block to that period.

1. When a single class or block is selected using a left mouse click, the class or block will not be highlighted grey but will be visible when dragging.
2. To select multiple, non-blocked classes within a year level, press the space bar twice before dragging. The selected classes will be highlighted grey until they are dragged. The selected classes are visible, in subject colours, when dragging.
3. To select a whole column to move, press the space bar until the whole column is selected and highlighted grey. When dragged, the classes will not be visible but text showing the selected period will be displayed.

Moving a blocked class to the grey off-grid area
To remove a single class from a block and place it in the grey offgrid area, select the class and use one of the following options:
- Use the delete key on the keyboard
- Use the right mouse option 'Remove lesson'
