E10 - Swap roomed periods

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Preamble

When a timetable has been constructed and subsequently roomed, we may occasionally want to make a global swap to the timetable and retain the assigned rooming allocations.
Info When classes are moved around in the Master grid, any class that previously had a room assigned through Rooms > Room allocations will be lost to a class that moves (unless a room is hardcoded to a class or there is only one room option for a class). This is because when changes occur in the Master grid, it can significantly affect the room allocation possibilities, and a new solution could be found.

Scenario:
A timetable has been constructed and the room allocations assigned. The school then decides that they wish to swap all Monday Period 1 classes with all Monday period 3 classes. In this case, we would want to keep the room allocations exactly the same, as we are simply swapping all classes from one period to another.

Process

Navigate to Grid > Swap roomed periods

A grid will display the whole school timetable. Column headings show the periods, and rows on the left hand side show each year level.

To swap all classes from one period to another, click on the column header for the period to be swapped and drag and drop it onto period heading that the classes will be swapped with.
Warning  Classes in all year levels will be swapped

A message will ask for confirmation of the swap:

The changes will be seen immediately.
