- TABLE OF CONTENTS
Preamble
This document aims to assist users in some of the basics in the use and storage of E10 files.
In each location of an E10 .etz file, two folders will be automatically created:
- Autobaks
- MultiUser
These should not be deleted.
Autobaks folder
The Autobaks folder saves a number of files required by the E10 application.
Some of these files are explained below:
- Timetable data file ".etz":
- As changes occur in the .etz timetable file, and around every 5 minutes or so, a copy of the .etz file will be automatically saved.
This function is very useful in cases such as:
- the file was saved with unwanted changes and you wish to recover an earlier version of your file without those changes
- the main file has become corrupt for some unfortunate reason and you need to locate a recent uncorrupted version of the file. - E10 will save 20 versions of your file in no particular number order, and then will overwrite them. The copies of the timetable file will be saved in the following pattern with their unique naming:
- File Name, autosave.etz (e.g. Edval Surry Hills HS 2024,autosave.etz) - This particular version will be created automatically after 5mins of the change that you have made in the timetable file which you have not saved yet. Once the file is saved by the user , then the autosave.etz file will automatically be replaced with a new copy of etz file called "File Name, autobak"number".etz " e.g. Edval Surry Hills HS 2024,autobak8.etz and there will also be another copy of file created called "File Name, lastgood.etz" if not there already, if the file exist then it will overwrite the lastgood.etz file , The file with the autobak number will have the last changes saved while the lastgood will have the version before the change was made. If the file is not saved by user and instead the changes are declined and file is closed then the Autobak will only create one version of the file which will be called "File Name, autobak"numbers"etz" e.g. Edval Surry Hills HS 2024,autobak8.etz.
- File Name, lastgood.etz (e.g. Edval Surry Hills HS 2024,lastgood.etz) - As described in above point, The lastgood.etz file is the last version before the latest changes were saved. There will always be one version of lastgood.etz.
- File Name,Autobak"number".etz (e.g. Edval Surry Hills HS 2024,auobak8) - The autobak version is the latest version of the timetable file with recent changes made in the file. E10 will save 20 versions of your file in no particular number order.

- E10 Application:
As the E10 software updates with newer versions, the older software versions are kept here. It is possible to open an .etz file with any of these versions. - INDEX File:This file records student changes made in Edval Staff.Refer to E10 - Tracking student changes made in Edval Staff for a detailed guide.
- Syncs log file:
This file contains the following information about each sync that has been executed:- The type of sync (basic, advanced, special, sync on save)
- The timestamp of the sync
- The filepath of the .etz file the sync was executed in
- The windows user and machine which executed the sync
- The calls which were made in the sync (at least for LISS, SIF, and Edumate)
- Additional info which may be helpful depending on the sync type (e.g. username + URL for LISS)
- The autobak save does not act in the same way as pressing the Save button. The Save button must be pressed in order to save changes made in the file. The autobak save is just a periodic back up type save to the Autobaks folder.
Despite the auto-saving feature, you are strongly encouraged to back your timetable file up regularly, and it is best to do so on another computer or location, should your computer be stolen or have a hard disk failure.
Tip: You can also email yourself the latest .etz file on a regular basis.
