Preamble

At times within a school, there is the need to create areas where multiple classes can have lessons (even though it is one space). In order to accomplish this 'areas' within one room need to be created in the room data screen. For example, a hall or a MPC has the capacity to house several classes. The amount or areas a space can be separated into will vary based on capacity and need.

Creating multiple areas within a single room

In order to achieve this go to Rooms > Room Data (F5)

The room that has already been entered can remain as it is, the additional rooms can be numbered. For example 'HALL' would already be in the Room Data list, add 'HALL2', 'HALL3' etc. Depending on the need. Also update the capacity size, the type, campus if applicable and a description of the room in the notes column.
Info
Please refer to our Rooms > Room data (F5) document about how to edit room data.

If some classes need the whole hall but other classes need just a portion, you can do this too but keep the full capacity for the hall.  Classes who need the whole hall must be entered as multiple classes tied together with the 'Vertical' syntax in the "Line" column (just as in vertical integration).

In a similar way, the Library may be split into several 'rooms' to handle various classes.  For example, set up LIBST11 and LIBST12 to hold the students in years 11 and 12 respectively who are doing private study, and set up LIBOHS to hold the Open HS students.  This way there will be no clash of rooms on the timetable, even though the classes holding those students may all be scheduled in the library at the same time.
