Some schools and systems require duty allocations to be included in the calculation of a teacher's load. In E10 version 10.9.43, the ability to do this has been added, along with the ability to calculate the number of duty allocations a teacher can be given.
Enabling duties to be counted towards teaching loads
To enable duty allocations to be counted in the calculation of teaching loads, go to Settings > Teachers and select "Duties count towards load".
Important Setting

In order for loads to be calculated correctly, there is an important setting that needs to be enabled for viewing loads in periods. In Setup > School info there is a checkbox that needs to be selected so that E10 calculates and displays duty loads with respect to the median length of teaching periods, as set up in the grid structure. Please ensure that this setting is selected as shown below.
Viewing Duty allocations in the Staff allocations screen
When the option to include duty allocations in loads is enabled, a new column titled 'Duties' will appear in Staff Allocations. This will be populated with the duties that have been allocated to each teacher via the Duty Roster.
Duty allocations in the Staff allocation screen do not refer to the number of duty allocations but rather the total time in either minutes or periods for which the teacher is allocated to each duty.
The duties will be listed using the code assigned to each duty under Teachers > Duty roster > Duty areas. The actual allocation of each duty is displayed in grey on the left of the duty. This will be displayed in periods or in minutes, depending on which view option is selected.
When viewing in periods, the allocation will be shown as a fraction of the median length online period, provided the correct setting is selected in Setup > School info, as explained above. Note that when there is an even number of online periods, E10 will always take the median length to be the higher of the two middle values.
Automatically calculating duty loads
The ability to calculate the number of duties to which a teacher can be assigned, based on their remaining load capacity, has been added to Teachers > Duty roster > Duty loads. This action will clear any existing duties from the duty roster and populate the MaxDuties column with the maximum number of duties that can be assigned to each teacher. This can be manually adjusted if required.

Important note: The maximum number of duties per teacher is calculated based on the median length duty period. This may result in some teachers exceeding their maximum load allocation if they are assigned to duties which are longer than the median length. It is recommended, after automatically calculating maximum duties and generating the roster, that all allocations are are checked and duty loads adjusted if the maximum load has been exceeded for any teacher.
