Preamble

The EdvalStaff and EdvalKiosk applications are unique to each school, as the school’s timetable file locations are embedded directly into the software itself. Users then need only have shortcuts to the application which is stored on the server (and not on individual users PC’s). To avoid the need for configuration files, Edval will inject your current timetable file paths, directly into the EdvalStaff and EdvalKiosk applications. You need to ensure the exe file is not set to read only, and not in a read only location, as the registration process will need to write to the file to inject the timetable path details.

Register EdvalStaff in Edval 10

EdvalStaff and EdvalKiosk can be registered in Edval 10 by going to File > Synchronise > Register EdvalStaff/EdvalKiosk and answer the questions. The EdvalStaff application is now registered for your school, and may be saved on the server. Check that both executables now work correctly.

Create a network shortcut to the EdvalStaff application and issue this shortcut or file path to all necessary staff. Ensure that all staff with access to EdvalStaff have been trained how to use it.

N.B. Staff should not be given the software, but only the link. There should only be one copy of the software on the network to facilitate updating.

Update EdvalStaff

EdvalStaff and EdvalKiosk can be updated via timetable file.

Go to File > Synchronise > Update EdvalStaff/EdvalKiosk
