Getting started

Setting up the "Connection" tab

 4. On the “Connection” tab add all the required fields which are provided by your CESIS server provide

A Proxy is not usually required. See your school administrator if a proxy message appears after testing the connection.

Setting up the "Other" tab

  1. Edit the period-to-number mapping. Some school admin systems require control over numeric identifiers given to each cyclical period.
The [Edit] button takes you into a screen where you set up a mapping from Edval periods to CESIS period numbers. It is necessary to fill this out in a way that Edval periods are matched to the correct CESIS period numbers.  This configuration information is stored in the .etz file, so you’ll need to save the file for this to be remembered.

  2. Sync timetable & class-list every time you save

Sync every time you save, meaning sync occurs automatically on a ctrl-S save. In this case, data is first saved locally to disk.

  3. Exclude Yard duties/Study classes/On-Calls

Unticking this option the above data will not be synced.

  4. Accept Statewide ID's that are sent to Edval (Recommended)
Edval will use the Statewide ID's that are provided when a download of students is performed.

  5. When downloading the list of students, what format will they be in?
This is the format of which student names will be added into 'Student data'.

"Sync Now" tab

Basic Sync

Edval class lists and timetable will be published to CESIS along with duties and study classes.
All class lists and timetable entries existing in CESIS in the date range below will be changed to match what is in Edval.
  1. Date
How far to sync the timetable to CESIS by adjusting/selecting the date.
  2. Create support log file
This is usually required by Edval support to check the data validation.
  3. Edval Rotation(s)
Select the rotation from the dropdown to sync to CESIS Server, all rotations can also be selected.

  4. Check course codes
This button checks that classes with the same course codes but different subject names are flagged as CESIS does not differentiate between them and applies the first subject name it sees for all classes with that course code. Eg 12ENG1 - English and 12ENGA - Engineering. Course code for both classes is '12ENG' and could apply 'English' or 'Engineering' for both classes.
