What is a Lesson Plan?

  1. A lesson plan is a note that is added to a teacher's timetable, outlining the planned content of a lesson for a particular class. The purpose of the lesson plan is to provide guidance for the teacher assigned to cover the class when the class teacher is absent.
  2. Teachers can create lessons plans in advance when they know they will be absent.
  3. The lesson plan can be accessed by the replacement teacher via their own timetable and also via the replacement teacher's day sheet.
  4. Replacement teachers are able to comment on the lesson plan to give feedback on the lesson to the absent teacher.

Steps to Create a Lesson Plan

  1. Navigate to the required timetable. A teacher with a permanent teacher role will be taken directly to their own timetable  when they log in.   A teacher with an Administrator role or a Daily Organiser role will need to navigate to the required timetable via  View > Timetables.

  2. Select the date required.

  3. Select a view mode (Day, Week or Fortnight)

  4. Select which items to show (Bell times, Subject Name, Cover type). Ensure that 'Usual timetable' is NOT selected as selecting  'Usual timetable'  will not show the daily changes and will prevent access to the lesson plan.

  5. In the cell of the lesson that is to have a lesson plan added, hover the mouse over the bottom right hand corner to reveal  the options button.  Click on this and select 'Lesson plan...' from the list of options.

           6. In the window that opens, add the lesson plan in the 'Notes' text box and select 'Ok' to save.

Viewing the Lesson Plan and Adding Feedback

  1. The replacement teacher can view the lesson plan on their own timetable after the covers have been published by the Daily  Organiser.
  2. A  flag will be visible on the lesson assigned to the replacement teacher to indicate that a lesson plan has been left by the absent teacher.

  1. In the cell of the lesson with the plan added, hover the mouse over the bottom right hand corner to reveal the options button. Click on this and select 'Lesson plan...' from the list of options to view the lesson plan and to add feedback if required.
