TABLE OF CONTENTS
Preamble
Speciality rooms can be set up to accommodate students with special education requirements e.g., students using a hearing device might need rooms with hearing loops or student using a wheelchair might require ground level rooms or rooms with ramp access. As Edval better understands which rooms are suitable for students with special education requirements, the auto - room algorithm will work more effectively, by assigning their classes to the appropriate rooms.
Rooms > Speciality rooms
Entries required for each field:
Field | Entry required |
Description | Enter the special feature / capability of the room e.g., Hearing Loop, Ground Level or Wheelchair Ramp. |
Rooms | Double click in the cell to select the appropriate room/s satisfying the special education requirement. |
Students | Enter the name of the student/s who requires the specific feature / capability of the rooms listed. Enter only one student per cell. |
Speciality room exemptions
In some cases, not all classes need a speciality room. To specify which classes do require the speciality rooming or to exempt other classes, open the right hand side slide-in and enter the required class codes. Note that a wildcard string may be used. Use 'not' to exempt classes from speciality rooming, e,g, 'not *PDHPE*. This wildcard string will exempt all classes that include PDHPE in the code. Use the * only to make speciality rooming apply to all class-codes.
Auto - rooming
The auto - room algorithm considers these requirements via the weight for 'Adhere to Special Needs'.
See the 'Rooming quality' via Rooms > Room allocations > Rooming quality.
Speciality room violations
Any violations of special education requirements are highlighted in the timetable display with a yellow '(N)'.
