Preamble
This document explains how to configure a synchronisation with Generic LISS Server.

If you are using Generic LISS to sync to a 3rd party System, please make sure you've read through any documentation from them on setting up the integration first. The information below is not specific to a particular system so you will need to work with them to configure this correctly. Integration support will only be able to provide limited assistance with this as we may not be aware of the specific settings required for your 3rd party system.
Publish and Download calls
Tes Timetable publishes the following data to Generic LISS server:

Publish Rooms
Publish Students
Publish Teachers
Tes Timetable retrieves the following to Generic LISS server:

Configuration of Generic LISS server in Tes Timetable
Getting started
Go to File > Synchronise > Configure
Select “Generic LISS server” from the dropdown menu.
Click the configure button to next to dropdown
Setting up the "Connection" tab
4. On the “Connection” tab add all the required fields which are provided by your Generic LISS server provide
A Proxy is not usually required. See your school administrator if a proxy message appears after testing the connection.
Setting up the "Other" tab
- Select your communication protocol JSON or XML
- Edit the period-to-number mapping. Some school admin systems require control over numeric identifiers given to each cyclical period.
The [Edit] button takes you into a screen where you set up a mapping from timetable periods to Generic LISS Server period numbers. It is necessary to fill this out in a way that Timetable periods are matched to the correct Generic LISS Server period numbers. This configuration information is stored in the timetable file, so you’ll need to save the file for this to be remembered. - Sync timetable & class-list every time you save
Sync every time you save, meaning sync occurs automatically on a ctrl-S save. In this case, data is first saved locally to disk. - Exclude Yard duties/Study classes/On-Calls
Unticking this option the above data will not be synced. - Accept Statewide ID's that are sent to the Timetable file (Recommended)
- When downloading the list of students, what format will they be in?
- Which years?
Select the year levels to exclude from the sync. An example scenario would be a school that unticked the special 'meetings' year level to exclude yard duties/study classes and on-calls.
"Sync Now" tab
Basic Sync
Class lists and timetable will be published to Generic LISS server along with duties and study classes.
All class lists and timetable entries existing in Generic LISS server in the date range below will be changed to match what is in the Timetable file.
- Date
How far to sync the timetable to Generic LISS Server by adjusting/selecting the date. - Create support log file
This is usually required by Timetable support to check the data validation. - Timetable Rotation(s)
Select the rotation from the dropdown to sync to Generic LISS Server, all rotations can also be selected.
Advanced sync
- Generic LISS Server → Timetable
Downloading Rooms, Students and Teachers
- Timetable→ Generic LISS Server
The Advanced sync allows full control over what data is synced
(Timetable→ Generic LISS Server : shows the options for data transfer from Timetable into Generic LISS Server.
Timetable→ Generic LISS Server : Publish Classes, Class lists, Timetable, Bell times, Rooms, Students and Teachers)
- Date
