Timetable Daily - Synchronisation to Generic LISS Server via Direct Connection

Preamble

Timetable Daily is now able to synchronise data via the Generic LISS server. Synchronisation can occur in a number of ways:

Publish and Sync: by selecting the 'Publish covers' action from the Covers page.
Basic sync: sends date-to-cycle day mapping, classes, class lists and daily timetable data for selected dates.
Advanced sync: data which is to be sent can be selected from a set of options.

If you are using Generic LISS to sync to a 3rd party System, please make sure you've read through any documentation from them on setting up the integration first. The information below is not specific to a particular system so you will need to work with them to configure this correctly. Integration support will only be able to provide limited assistance with this as we may not be aware of the specific settings required for your 3rd party system.

Synchronisation Set up

Add Sync System

Go to Daily > Synchronise
Choose 'Add sync system'

Select Select 'Generic LISS server' from the system dropdown.

Fill in the following details:
- Server Address
- Username
- Password
- School code

If unsure of any of the above details please contact the system to which the data is being synced via the Generic LISS server.

Test that the connection is successful with 'Test connection'.
Select 'Save' to complete the configuration set up.

Delete Sync System

To delete the Generic LISS synchronisation pathway, select the Generic LISS sync config and use the 'Delete sync system' action which will become active when a sync config is selected.

Synchronising

Publish and Sync

Syncing the daily changes, including class covers, room changes, lesson cancellations and events can be done from the Covers page. This type of sync through publishing will send classes, class lists and daily changes.

From the Covers page, choose Publish covers
Select 'Publish and sync'
Enter sync dates and email preferences
Select 'Publish'

Basic and Advanced Syncs

To complete an basic or advanced sync go to Daily > Synchronise.

Basic Sync

A basic sync will send date-to-cycle day mapping, classes, class lists and daily timetable data for selected dates.

To perform an Basic sync

Go to Daily >Synchronise and select the Generic LISS configuration
Select Basic sync from the actions panel
Enter the dates required
Select Sync to complete the process

Advanced Sync

The advanced sync allows you to choose which data to push through to the third party system via the Generic LISS server. This feature is useful if you want greater control over which data is to be sent.

To perform an advanced sync:

Go to Daily > Synchronise and select the Generic LISS sync configuration
Select 'Advanced sync' from the actions panel.
Select the data that is required to be sent
If requested by Tes support, select 'Create support log file' to generate a log that can be used to analyse any issues
Select 'Sync' to complete the process.

Note: A warning message will appear when a sync is attempted before cover data has been published.

This warning is shown for the first date in the date range for which covers have not been published.
