TABLE OF CONTENTS
Preamble
Some schools have a subject selection process which includes meeting with students and submitting their choices together, rather than the student submitting themselves. Previously, each student's WebCode must have been known by the teacher in order to log in as the student and submit choices. It is now possible for selected staff members to log in with their own WebCode and act as any student to submit preferences, without the need to know the student's individual WebCodes.

Choice Administrators can submit student selections even after the form has been closed.
Steps to Act as student
Step 1: Assign the Choice administrator permission to the relevant staff members
A high level user at the school with the permission of 'Manage users' will need to assign the 'Choice Administrator' role to the appropriate staff members.
- Log in to my.edval.education/login
- Navigate to Admin > Roles. Check that there is a role for the Choice Administrator. If not, create one that includes the permission of 'Manage Choice'. Refer to the document Admin Menu if required.
- Navigate to Admin > Users
- Edit each relevant user, adding the Choice Administrator role.
- Send these users their WebCodes (if they do not currently know it): Admin > Users > Select users > Resend WebCode

If the school is setting up Choice for the following academic year and have not yet 'rolled over' the current database's year settings into the next year (Admin > Settings > Rollover settings), manually create as many user accounts as required that will need to log in and use the Act as Student feature. Depending on the time of year the user is setting up Choice for the following year, it may be better to wait until later in the year to perform the roll over function, so adding users manually will likely be the best way to proceed.
Step 2: Choice Administrators log in with their own WebCodes and submit student preferences
- Staff log in to my.edval.education/login
- Navigate to Choice > Forms
- Select 'Act as Student' for the appropriate form
- Select a student from the right, or enter a student's name or part thereof into the Search box (three characters minimum)
- Open the web form
- Select and submit preferences
- Print or email the form (if required)
