TABLE OF CONTENTS
Preamble
There are times when students have been offered a subject which will not actually run. This could be because there was not enough student interest, or because the school is unable to secure a teacher for a subject. In these cases, we want to cancel the course while retaining the original data (in case things should change).
Cancel a course
- Navigate to Lines > Elective data > Courses
- Enter 0 (zero) in the #C field
Cancelled courses report
A report can be referred to which will list the affected students Lines > Elective data > Courses > Action: Cancelled courses.
The Cancelled courses action will also allow you to delete the courses set to #C = 0. Doing so results in two actions:
- Shifts the students' reserve preferences of the courses into the main preference section
- Slightly adjusts the preference weights of the Line generation algorithm.

It is not advised that this Delete action be used. It will not improve the overall student results, it is just a quick way to delete all courses from the dataset that are marked as #C = 0 should the school wish to.
It is better to leave all data in the file in case the school wishes to run the course after all, or to retain the student preference information.
Both actions above can be achieved without deleting courses by going to Lines > Elective data > View (Fields to show) > Tick 'Hide requests for cancelled courses'. The preferences for the cancelled courses will be hidden from view and all other preferences moved up one.
The number that appears in the S/C field will also be updated.
