Preamble
Subjects on lines may run for the full school year, or they may run on a rotation basis, such as half yearly or termly. The number of rotations will be set in Setup > School Info > Number of Rotations. Elective courses can then be flagged to run for the full year or on a rotational basis.
This document highlights the particular requirements and settings for rotated courses. General Elective data information is covered in other Knowledge Base articles.
Terminology
Rotations: A label (number) used (in conjunction with external systems) to indicate a time frame when certain classes will run during the year. Typically this specifies semesterised or term based classes, such as Art/Music, Woodwork/Food Technology, Geography/History.
Units: the number of units will depend on the number of rotations that will be running. Some schools will generate lines for a number of year levels all in one go, and will have a combination of year long and rotational courses running.
Example 1: Yr 7 language on 1 line with semester length classes
A School has two rotations set up in their file. The incoming Yr7 students are offered 4 Language options: CHI, FRE, LAT & VNM. The students must choose 2 languages; one to be studied in semester 1 and the other in semester 2.
Each language will run 2 classes: one in semester 1 and one in semester 2.

- Lines > Elective data > Courses
Units: 1 Unit. In this example, one unit corresponds with one rotation (semester)
