Sync Date range concept (Tes Timetable file --> Edval Web Server)

Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 1:01 AM

This article will assist in understanding what type of data when synced from the Timetable file to Edval Web server is following and not following the ‘date range’ chosen on the ‘Sync now’ page.

It will help to understand that if they were to sync two separate copies of the timetable files to Tes cloud modules, what changes are synced and which timetable file takes precedence over the other.

Tes cloud modules do not support keeping all changes coming from two different date ranges from two timetable files in the same dataset. For example, some users may try to sync their next month’s timetable file which might be different to their current file in terms of teacher changes, class list changes, student changes or class data changes. Or some users may try to sync their next rotation’s file so they can prepare for the next term in Edval Daily in advance.

Tes cloud module will pick the latest file that has been synced and overwrite the previous file’s sync regardless of what date range was chosen in these two files.

Example: Rotation1 file ‘from - to’ has current date range and Rotation2 file ‘from-to’ has next month’s date range for syncing.

If we were to sync Rotation2 after Rotation1 file, Tes cloud modules will overwrite Rotation1 file changes and put all the changes coming from Rotation2 starting from the current date even though a ‘future date’ has been chosen when syncing Rotation2 file to the cloud.

Which particular data from the Tes timetable is not following the date concept?
  • Class membership - Class membership data are synced forward from when sync was performed regardless of the date range you select

  • Teacher data , room data and students

Which particular data from Tes timetable is following the date concept?
  • Cyclical Timetable data (Cyclical timetable is for bell times and activities (lessons) and the number of rotations. Rotations start/end are defined in Timetable Daily -> Calendar Mapping screen.
