E10 - How to: Troubleshoot sub-classes

Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 12:53 AM

TABLE OF CONTENTS

If the sub-classes were created initially using View > Easy sub-class entry, then some of the code is hidden from view.

Most of the time, there is no need to see it.

What is hidden from view when using Easy sub-class entry?

To see the hidden code, use View > Display sub-classes.

All sub-classes MUST have the word ‘sub’ in the Subject (description) field.  This is automatically created, if Easy sub-class entry is used.  It will be used to identify the sub-classes so they can be hidden or displayed in the Class data screens and in timetable views.

The sub-classes are linked to their main class.

For sub-classes created as different components of a main class, such as PD and PE classes, one of the sub-classes is defined as being the same group as the other class – check the entry in the Line column.  This ensures the different components do not run at the same time (student body clash).

Advice
It is not necessary or advisable to set up sub-classes for job-share or split teachers on a class.  These type of splits are not reported in Health Check.
If some of the lessons are to be taken by a different teacher, use one of the following:

Teachers > Staff allocations F4:
Native split in a Timetable view:
