Periods

Enter any period(s) on which this class MUST or MUST NOT occur.  This entry must make sense for the #PER value entered.

 Examples

TueA3

occurs once in the cycle
6every pd 6 in the cycle (10 per fortnight)
RC
will run in every period called RC (Roll call)
-1,-2,-3,-4,-5
NOT periods 1-5, so can run in any pd 6 only

An entry 'TueA3' simply locks one lesson of the class to this period. For empty grids, it will cause the class to be assigned to the periods specified. For a timetable with a grid already largely assigned, they won't instantly be assigned.

A class which is scheduled to a period it is not meant to be assigned, will show with a BLACK clash dot in the Grid > Master grid F11. Fix and Optimise will try to move these classes into position. Otherwise manually fix where classes are on illegal periods.

Enter any periods/days this class must NOT occur on with a dash, e.g. if class can't occur in any period 6 or Tuesdays, enter Periods ='-6,-Tue'.

An entry 'RC,-WedRC' means Roll call classes are locked to the RC period, except for Wednesdays. In this case the '-WedRC' entry overrides the 'RC' entry as an exception. Preference levels in periods are not supported, so you can't use brackets like '(Mon)' to say preferably Monday.

Coding ‘-1,-2,-3,-4,-5’ in a 6 period timetable means a class can only run in pd 6 of any day.

Coding ‘6’ means the class runs in every pd 6.  Check #Per is correct, eg. set to 10 for a fortnightly cycle.

Check the syntax by double-clicking the period cell (Or Ctrl-T when cell is selected) to show a mini-timetable, that visualises the syntax. Burgundy cells show the lesson must occur then, and black means it can't occur then.
