Preamble
- Stand-alone: VM units run completely outside the VCE line structure.
- Hybrid: some VM units delivered within the VCE line structure, with remaining units delivered as stand-alone classes.
Stand-alone approach
1. Create a new year level to hold the VM classes (Setup > Year levels).
The new year can be called 'VM', 'V', 12V, '11VM' etc.
2. Set up the VM classes (Classes > Class data F6).
All periods of the cycle must be accounted for. If the school has 50 periods per cycle, then the number of periods for the VM classes must add up to 50 periods. This may mean adding 'classes' such as 'TAFE' or 'Work Placement', to account for the time that students are offsite. These classes can be flagged so that they are not sent to external systems by selecting Class data (F6) > View > Exportable and entering N in this cell.
- Group 11VMLTY.M has been entered in the Line column for all other ClassID M classes: 11VMNUM.M, 11VMPDS.M and 11VMWRS.M
3. Enrol students into classes.
Drag and drop the students from the Unassigned column into the Line 1 class. Once a student is entered, they are then automatically registered to all other VM classes that have been grouped to that class. There is no need to add them to the grouped classes. Any other classes running on lines will need to be done through Class List Manager, choosing the appropriate Line number. A tip is to check a student's timetable for gaps, and see if there are any classes missing that should show.
4. Put the classes on the grid.
FAQ
In Classes > Class data (F6) > VM year level, go to the Action bar > Group class lists and check if these classes have been ticked to tell Edval to manage the class list enrolments according to your grouping entries.
