FAQ - How do classes with the same Course code but different Subject names sync to other systems?

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Issue

A number of classes have been defined in Tes Timetable file with the same Course code but different Subject names.
Admin system has assigned the Subject of the last class in the list from Tes Timetable to all the classes with that Course code.

Reason

In the sync process, Admin system reads the Course code and attaches the name from the Subject field. This has been replaced by the Subject (which is different) of the next class with same Course code.  Eventually Admin system comes to the last class with the same Course code and uses that Subject name.

Example 1

School has set up Sport classes all with same Course code but each with different Subject.  After sync with Admin system, the classes all end up being called Sport - FUTSAL.  This happened to be the last class in the list for Year level SP.   The school wanted each class to have its own Subject name.

Give each different Sport its own Course code

Example 2

School has defined 5 Maths classes in Yr 8 with the same Course code 'MAT'.  The school wants to distinguish between these classes so has given each class a different Subject name.  The students are all studying the same course 'Mathematics'.
Info

Change the ClassID from numbers to letters to identify the classes more easily.  The Subject should be called 'Mathematics'

Warning

Classes with the same Course code should have the same Subject description.
