Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 1:00 AM

Preamble

This document will display the Choice screens from the student login perspective.

Choice Website

Students log in to my.edval.education, where they enter their unique WebCodes, as communicated from schools, to submit their subject preferences.

Student Profile

Students can access their profile at the top right of the Choice screen.

Note: If this page is bookmarked while viewing the timetable, further log ins as a student will open the timetable screen. This may not work for SSO.

Field
Details
Profile
Students can view their profile details such as their name, email and phone number. These details are not editable; the .etz timetable file is the source of truth for these details. These details may be added / edited in the .etz file and synced to the Edval web server if required.
Regenerate WebCode
Students may generate a new WebCode if they believe their security has been compromised. The new WebCode will be downloaded into the .etz file at the next sync.

Forms

Once signed in, students will see all of the open or closed Choice forms relevant to them.

Clicking on a form will open the Subject selection screen.

Subject Selection

Students indicate their preferences by selecting from the subject options in the Main Units drop down boxes and the Reserve Units drop down boxes.
Each subject has been assigned a unit value, and students will not be able to submit their subject preferences unless they meet requirements that have been set by the school.
Some subjects may be pre-filled if there is only one possibility for that drop down and there is a rule added to the .etz file.
Notes and Rules display on the right hand side of the screen to assist students in their selection.

Pathways

If schools have set up pathways, there are two display options:
  1. all pathways display, and students can enter choices in their desired pathway
  2. a single pathway displays, as pre-determined and entered by the timetabler in Lines > Elective data > Students > Pathway column.
Refer to E10 - Choice: Pathways

Note that students can submit selections in more than one pathway. E10 will download the most recent submission data - it cannot download both.

Ineligible Subjects

If schools have set up 'Forbidden courses', or Prerequisites, students may be restricted from submitting certain subjects. Any course that has been identified as forbidden for a student will still display to them, but it will be marked as 'ineligible'. The same is true if a student did not satisfy the prerequisites defined by the school.

If a student selects a forbidden course, or does not meet the prerequisite requirement, they will receive an error message upon submission that they cannot select the forbidden course, and will have to select another subject to enable a successful submission.

Submitting Preferences

Once students have entered all their subject preferences and selected the Submit button, the system will check that they have met any rules set up by the school. If they have, their submission will be accepted.

If students have not met the submission rules, an error message will be displayed at the top of the screen. They can follow the prompt to adjust their subject preferences to achieve a successful submission.

Submission Form

Students can print a hard copy of their submitted subject preference form.

Students can email a copy of their submitted subject preference form.

If schools have allowed students to log in multiple times to change their submissions, their previously submitted subjects will display pre-filled. The student may then change their preferences and re-submit.
